Love Welcomes is a creative social enterprise that helps refugee women begin to stitch their lives back together. Their team of refugee women upcycle materials into beautiful, handmade home products that they sell all over the world.

Following on from The Edge X Love Welcomes project, I was asked to create a range of bags for both men and women that could be crafted on the simple machinery available in the Love Welcomes studio.

I was inspired by the weave that we used in the guitar strap design, and by using these woven patterns, I was able to create unique ways to secure the bag straps, and form exterior pockets. This technique also allowed for simple patterns that were easy to make, whilst reducing the amount of sewing required for each bag.
